Pippa Middleton, Lambasted By PETA For Eating Whale Carpaccio And Writing About It In Column

Pippa Middleton, Kate Middleton's younger sister, is currently under fire for eating a whale carpaccio during  trip in Norway and writing about the experience in her column in The Daily Telegraph, according to E! Online.

Smoked whale carpaccio is raw whale meat that is smoked until it gives out a distinct flavor.

Pippa wrote in her column that the taste of whale carpaccio resembled smoked salmon but its appearance is close to venison carpaccio.

As Pippa openly shares about this experience in public, the first group to find this 'revolting' is the animal rights group PETA.

"Does she think or read? These whales are harpooned and bled to death before they are gutted," said Elisa Allen, associate director of PETA UK, in an interview with E! last Thursday.

Allen emphasized that Pippa was unmindful of how whales were slaughtered in Norway and how long whale meat has been banned in the country.

The associate director of PETA also questioned the fact if Pippa had eaten whale meat, then the next dish she would probably try is a 'panda steak' and 'elephant canape'.

Allen even recommended that Pippa should try the high-end vegan foods listed by Forbes Mgazine, which can be found in Norway instead of trying an animal protected by law.

She further cajoled that the vegan food is good for the heart, an organ that Kate's younger sister doesn't have.

WDC, who specializes in close monitoring of whale and dolphin mortality worldwide, also gave their reaction of Pippa's experience of eating whale carpaccio.

Vanessa Williams-Grey, an active whale campaigner, explains the irony of Pippa's brother-in-law, Prince William, who is an advocate of fighting against illegal poaching in Africa.

Grey also found the news disheartening, since Pippa is considered a public figure and the people surrounding her represent their advocacy towards animal life.
