The dog will forever be man’s best friend, the bond between dog and owner is too priceless. It can be compared to how a mother takes good care and love their baby.

According to a Japanese study, the special connection between human and dog are triggered by oxytocin. Oxytocin is believed to lessen the stress and strengthen social relationships. It can also build trust and have the ability to make one person feel good. This is a natural reaction of the brain when a person shakes hands, hugs or even looked into the eyes of their loved ones.

There are a series of experiments that had been done that made researchers conclude that the chemical bond between dogs and humans started thousands of years ago when dogs started becoming domesticated.

One of the experiments done was to put dogs in one room along with their owners and researchers monitor their interaction and measure the oxytocin level using the urine samples.

“I personally believe that there is a tight bond between the owner and dogs, I have three standard poodles. I strongly feel the tight bonding with these dogs. Actually, I participated in the experiment, and my oxytocin boosted up after the eye gaze, like 300 percent,” said Takefumi Kikusui, a medicine professor at Japan’s Azabu University.

Researchers then tried the experiment with wolves along with humans who raised them, but there was no oxytocin reaction found.

Details of the study were published in the journal Science.
