'Good Times' Star Ben Powers, Dead At 64

Alton 'Ben' Powers, star of the famous 70s show called Good Times, passed away in New Bedford, Massachussetts last April 6, according to an obituary made by his family via Hollywood Reporter.

Powers was 64 years old and the exact cause of death is still not known.

Power rose to fame by portraying football player Keith Anderson in the famous 1970s sitcom. Anderson's wife in the sitcom, Thelma Evans,was played by Bernadette Stanis.

Stanis paid homage to her former costar through Facebook by posting a 'throwback' picture of the once famous TV couple, Mr. and Mrs. Evans,

"My condolences goes out to the family of Ben Powers who past a few days ago,"wrote Stanis, who also added that Powers was a great actor and a great friend.

Stanis also expressed that Powers will be sorely missed by many people and she closed the statement in Facebook by saying that they will again meet in their next lifetime.

Powers started his acting career at the Trinity Repertory Theater in Providence, Rhode Island.

Powers' talent was not limited to acting alone, he was also gifted in other aspects such as playing the piano, singing and composing songs.

Blessed with a lot of abilities, Powers was able to combine stand-up comedy and music. He began his career as an entertainer in Playboy clubs as an entertainer until he was discovered by a Hollywood agent in Providence thus opening the doors for the advancement of his career in the entertainment industry.

Power also starred in other famous sitcoms at that time such as 'The New Mike Hammer'.  He made TV appearances in 'Laverne and Shirley', 'The New Odd Couple' and 'Gimme A Break'.

Powers also starred several films such as 'Cheech and Chong's Next Movie', 'The Man Who Loved Women' and 'Things Are Tough All Over.'

Power's funeral is scheduled on May 3 in Rhode Island, a 'Celebration of Life' will also take place.
