(Photo : Sony) Sony has announced its new flagship, the Xperia Z4.
Sony announced the new Xperia Z4 through a press release, the new flagship Android smartphone that will most likely spend the rest of the year coming to international markets.
The press release was one of the quietest flagship launches in recent memory, showing Sony's underconfidence in the product. It might also be a move to segment it from other announcements like the Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9, which take up a lot of traction on the web removing the Xperia Z4 from the limelight.

At least this way, it has people talking although there isn't much to talk about when it comes to the Xperia Z4.
On the design front, the Xperia Z4 looks almost identical to the Xperia Z3. It does feature slightly less bezel on the sides, but other than that it would be hard to separate the two devices. Sony has been focused on keeping a consistent look on all its smartphones, for all the good it has done them.
It features a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 display, a rather conservative option by Sony with all of the 2K panels on the market today. Having a 1080p display will add a few extra hours of battery life, but the Samsung Galaxy S6 features a 2K display and can still pump out a good ten hours.
Internally, the Xperia Z4 is running on an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB of RAM and Adreno 430 GPU. It features 32 GB of internal storage with 128GB of expandable storage, alongside a 2930 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi ac and all the other regular connections.
On the back of the device is Sony's 20.7MP Exmor sensor with a 5.1MP camera on the front. It is dustproof to IP5 certificate and waterproof to IP8 certificate, meaning it can go for a swim for 30 minutes without dying.
It will run Android 5.0 at launch with Sony's Xperia UI on top. Sony is offering a range of colors to go alongside the Xperia Z4, including white, black, copper and aqua green.
Sony will launch the Xperia Z4 in Japan this summer but no other market has been confirmed. The price is also still a mystery although we suspect it will be priced competitively to the Galaxy S6 and One M9.
