Lee started out as a title holder for the Miss Hong Kong pageant in the 1960s, this became a stepping stone for her in her career in the entertainment industry, according to previous interview with Ariff Chan in DBC.

Lee's career was not limited to acting alone, she also became a news presenter in the 1980s in the network, Chinavision Canada.

Chinavision Canada is now known as Fairchild TV.

Before she was recruited to join TVB in the 1970s, Lee was part of the now cash strapped network, ATV.

"I hope everyone will persevere in the end," said Lee, expressing her sympathy towards the ATV employees and the network's impending shutdown before the year will end.

During her younger years, Lee admits that the work schedule for the entertainment industry is very taxing and hectic.

The 64 year old actress once admitted working on a very tight schedule without rest and she had no choice but to film for an outdoor film scene the next day.

These experiences made Lee realize that her body is no longer fit to sustain these stressful conditions. She further clarifies that she rejects offers not because she is no longer contented with the staff and production but for the reason that her age is no longer fit to withstand heavy workload.

When asked if Lee can stipulate special conditions in her future contract such as a lighter workload of 8 hours, she immediately replied that this might be counterproductive to her coworkers.

As a professional actress, Lee emphasized on the equality of work distribution.

Lee also gave her opinion towards Ricky Wong's offer to air HKTV dramas on ATV for $5 million. She truly believes ATV should not reject the opportunity since its fairly better to stay afloat.
