Cate Blanchet attended the SK-II Skin Care Asia campaign alongside Chinese actress Tang Wei in Shanghai, China, Tuesday, July 22.
The 45-year old Australian actress was previously the face of SK-II Facial Treatment Essence and has graced the event pesence to unveil a new line of luxury products with other endorsers.
SK-II is a cosmetic company first launched in Japan in 1980 under Procter & Gamble.
Cate Blanchet, however, didn't look too pleased during the event. The actress, stunning in a knee-length ivory dress, was seen staring far off while seated with actresses Ni Ni and Tang Wei.
Most photographs of the pale, blond beauty captured during the occasion showed that she blended right into the background due to the unflattering lighting at the venue.
During the whole event, Cate Blanchet rarely smiled, not even when the new product is being introduced to the public. Still, the actress spoke more openly when interviewed by Marie Claire.
Another endorser of the SK-II skincare line, China actress Tang Wei, attended the event, appearing in public for the first time since she announced her engagement to the older and lesser-known South Korean filmmaker, Kim Tae Young.
The news of their engagement was met with different reactions, mostly negative ones.
Their relationship was deemed by many as "a real-life Notting Hill romance" inspired by the romantic comedy about an international actress falling in love with an ordinary guy, but friend and family of the couple offered their congratulations.
Despite criticisms, the two are set to wed in autumn this year.
Tang Wei played the lead role in a South Korean film entitled "Late Autumn." According to her managing company, the actress was friends with the filmmaker and they later fell in love.
At the July 22 event, when Tang Wei was asked about her engagement, she stated, "If a woman encounters a chance that could change her destiny, why would she let go?"
She also thanked the public for their support and updated fans that she was currently learning hard to speak in Korean.
