Beyonce showed off her new Apple Watch Edition at Coachella earlier this month, putting a few photos of the experience on her website but the strap on the smartwatch has got a lot of people intrigued.

The strap features a gold Link Bracelet made of 18-karat gold like the Apple Watch Edition. Karl Lagerfeld was also showing off this strap when he received his Watch Edition from Apple executives a few weeks ago.

Even though the strap is unavailable in stores, it looks like Apple is handing it out to celebrities. It's not clear if this is a one-off for celeb friends or if Apple intends to release that option later in the year once it has got over the steep uptake of customers for the Watch.

Currently Apple has a limiting amount of actual premium straps for Watch Edition customers with a few 18-karat gold buckles but nothing standout. The gold Link Bracelet is quite standout but we suspect it would be worth more than the $17,000 price the gold buckle is currently on sale for on the Apple store.

The Watch Edition is already bringing in a superfluous amount of money to the company in terms of profit margins. If the company is planning on launching even more expensive straps, it could easily become Apple's most profitable product on the market.

Apple has hired a few celebrities to promote the Apple Watch, including several Vogue editors, and Pharrell. It's trying to split between high-end fashion and consumer technology, a short line, and Apple needs both to really hit the high numbers in the smartwatch industry.

The Apple Watch units pre-ordered are shipping to customers today and even though stock is mostly unavailable for most of the Watch units, there are a few still in stock for customers. Apple plans to rollout more units in June and July although it may be facing supply delays.
