Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, 42, has filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Monday from Chris Martin, 38, one year after their "conscious uncoupling" in March 2014.

In the nine-page court documents, it is shown that both parties are paying their own attorneys' fees and that Paltrow has requested spousal support and joint custody of their children. According to sources, both Paltrow and Martin's business managers are working out the terms of their divorce.

In her divorce papers, Paltrow cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for making their separation official, after their nine years and five months of marraige.  According to the couple, they have been trying to work out their relationship for over a year to see what might be possible between them. The couple are parents to Apple, age 10 and Moses, age 9.

After the couple announced their "conscious uncoupling,  they have remained close and are even spending time together with their kids on vacations. After their split, they were spotted together in the Bahamas and just recently, they went to a Mexican getaway.

In an interview with Howard Stern on SiriusXM, Paltrow described their relationship as a "really strong friendship." She added that their decision to separate was the result of trying to "find the positives" in their relationship for the children's sake. She said that she wanted him to forgive her just as she wants to forgive him and that they hang out together and have fun as a family for their children.

In a separate Interview, the Coldplay frontman said the same thing, saying they continue to be very close and that there are lots of love between them.  He also cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split.

The couple secretly married in December 2003 a few days after they announced Paltrow's pregnancy with their first child.

Paltrow has an Oscar for her role in "Shakespeare in Love" and Martin and his band, Coldplay have six Grammy Awards.
