Japanese artist Makoto Azuma teamed up with JP Aerospace to send his beautiful botanical matter into space and the results were remarkable.
The photographs came across as surreal landscape images that show organic life at the edge of space.
A 50-year old bonsai tree and a bouquet of flowers were sent into space last week where they were suspended in a balloon, all beautifully floating into the stratosphere as if in suspended animation.

The Tokyo-based florist-turned-artist acquired some film footage and still shots of the entire process from the launching of the plants to their journey into Earth's atmosphere some 100,000 feet above the surface.
The artist used GoPro and Fuji film cameras that were attached to the ceiling of giant helium balloons where the plants were suspended, capturing the most magnificent extraterrestrial shots.
A 10-person team from Sacramento-based JP Aerospace helped Azuma launch his plant installation into space from Black Rock Desert in Nevada.
John Powell, owner and founder of JP Aerospace, expressed his interest in the project saying plant life in space seemed so foreign, that is why seeing a familiar object launched into the edge of the atmosphere made space travel seem like a domestic idea.
Azuma fondly calls his art installation slash space mission "Exobiotanica" where his plants are now transformed into some sort of extraterrestrial plant life.
Azuma further explains his art practice with plants saying that he wants to witness the movement of his plants and flowers and their beauty suspended in space.
Overall, it took 100 minutes to propel the plants up into the atmosphere and another 40 minutes for them to descend back to Earth.
Both devices and vessels were retrieved within five miles of the launch site but unfortunately, the bonsai tree and the bouquet of flowers were never found.
After the success of the launch, Azuma and his team embraced one another, and Azuma declared that this was a dream come true for him
