A handmade Halloween costume helped Michigan police find a 22-year-old woman who has been missing for the past six month. The costume was made up of a black tight-fitting pants, leaf-covered top and dark purple long-hair wig.

To help find Chelsea Bruck, her parents printed and distributed more than 1 million fliers. The family also opened a Help Find Chelsea Bruck Facebook page which has more than 12,000 members.

The police informed the family that they found Burke's body at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday and requested them to confirm her identity.

Police found parts of the costume at a vacant lot in Flat Rock on April 5. The attire, plus other available evidence, helped authorities determine it was a homicide. However, the exact cause of death remains unknown. Police estimate it would take at least one month to find that out, reports USA Today.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said on Saturday night that Bruck's decomposing body was found by the lot owner at a heavily wooded site near the Carleton train tracks. The place appears to be an undeveloped residential property, said Heath Velliquete, deputy chief of the sheriff's office.

The owner discovered the body while performing drainage and excavation work to construct a house in Ash Township. The lot is of Briar Hill Road, south of Newburg Road, reports Toledo Blade.

The county's Medical Examiner's officer performed an autopsy on Saturday, but the result was inconclusive about the cause of death of the victim. Her dental records helped confirm that the corpse was that of Bruck. More investigation needs to be done, said Sheriff Dale Malone. He described the case as a complicated one with sparse details to work on.

Velliquete said the person who killed Bruck likely knew the place, particularly the railroad tracks nearby, where he dumped the body. It is about 12 miles away from the Halloween party ay 3587 Post Road, Frenchtown, where Bruck was last seen alive.

She said the property owner is not a suspect in the case but was devastated by his discovery.
