When Pacino was initially offered the role of Michael Corleone in The Godfather by Director Francis Ford Coppola, the studio didn't see his acting potential in portraying the role.
The 'Scarface' actor shares that playing the respected head of the Mafia family is still his 'most difficult' role to play.
Pacino didn't see Corleone as an ordinary gangster, rather he saw the character as somebody mysterious.
Ironically, Pacino's grandfather hails from a town named Corleone in Sicily.
Pacino also reveals about how hard it is to live in anonymity. The 75 actor states that 'he hasn't been in a subway or grocery store for years' and the concept of being famous two decades ago was different from how it is viewed now. Pacino emphasizes that one of the best luxuries in this world is to be in a place where no one recognizes him.
Pacino's parents divorced when he was young and he didn't have any father figure while growing up. The actor stresses that he wants his children to be raised in a different way and he fulfills his responsibilities as a father by shifting between two cities in order to spend time with them.
The 'Heat' actor has never been married but has three children from his previous relationships.
A doting father to 25 year old Julie and to 14 year old twins Anton and Julia, his children changed the perspective of how he lived his life.
Pacino elucidates further that his career as an actor used to mean everything to him, but now it is just a small part because of his children.
The actor's saddest moment of his life was losing both his mother and grandfather at the same time. They were his parental figures when he was young and they died within a year of each other. Pacino resorted to heavy drinking but stopped in the late 1970s to focus more on work.
Pacino is also open to the latest trend of today particularly social media.
Though the actor doesn't own an account but he has a Facebook page that garnered more than 5 million likes already.
"What does that mean? I don't know, although I do appreciate that these platforms are good for sending your message out there," said the actor.
