Months have passed since Valve Corporation said evelopment of their Steam Machines are ongoing and that wireless prototype versions of the Steam Controllers were being used to conduct live play tests.

They said the controllers were being tested by gaming industry professionals, die-hard gamers and casual gamers. The tests provided a lot of feedback thast should make the controller better.

But because of all these adjustments, the release date of the device was pushed back to 2015, and not later this year as earlier announced.

A Facepunch user going by the name of DevinWatson was digging through Steam client beta files and happened to stumble upon on what appears to be a redesigned layout of the Steam Controller.

The alleged new Steam Controller layout has the "ABXY" button configuration of an Xbox controller but the direction pad in earlier layouts has been replaced with an analog stick akin to the Playstation's Dualshock series in.

The positioning of the two touch pads with haptic feedback have been retained.

The Steam Machine, sometimes referred to as Steam Box, is a line of pre-built gaming computers being manufactured by several of Valve's associated companies. Most pre-built Steam machines will be upgradable and modular to various lengths.

All versions of the machine will run on a Linux-based operating system currently being developed by Valve and designed primarily for playing video games.

Valve's various models of the Steam Machines is going to be manufactured by partner companies.

The current listed manufacturers are CyberpowerPC, Digital Storm Bolt II, Alienware, Falcon Northwest Tiki, iBuyPower, Zotac, Gigabyte Briz Pro, Materiel, Origin PC, Webhallen, Scan NC10 and Next Spa.
