Chinese netizens accused Mainland Chinese boy group TFBOYS of plagiarizing Korean-Chinese boy group EXO's music video concepts for their newly released music clip for the song 'Young'.
On April 28, Chinese news site Sina reported that netizens are accusing TFBOYS of plagiarism following the release of their music video for 'Young'. According the news outlet, netizens pointed out that the group's music video is allegedly very similar to EXO's clip for the song 'Miracles in December', which was released as a part of their Christmas album.

Netizens stated that the overall concept, as well as the props in TFBOYS' music video was plagiarized. Users uploaded photos which showed the similarities between the two music clips, particularly the background which was used in the set and the idea of using props such as a piano and a puppy.
Moreover, the fans noticed that the scenes depicted in EXO's music video, such as the scene where former member Kris Wu is seen painting, was also copied by TFBOYS.
Others have pointed out that the beginnings of the two music videos are very similar, both featuring a close-up shot of a member's hand playing the piano. Many also noticed the similar winter theme.
Netizens criticized the Chinese group and its agency, stating that the situation is 'embarrassing' and that the people behind the production of the music video are 'uncreative'. Others also cited that EXO's production crew worked hard to develop the concept for the 'Miracles in December' music video.
However, there are also netizens who wrote comments to defend TFBOYS, stating that the members of the group are merely doing what their company told them to do.
One netizen wrote, "There are some similarities, but is it plagiarism?"
TFBOYS' agency has yet to respond to the allegations being made against the group.
SM Entertainment, the company that manages EXO and is known to respond immediately to plagiarism and copyright infringement to any material that is under its name, has not responded to the claims as well.
