New social networks are being launched that share their profits with users instead of keeping the earnings for themselves.

Popular social media sites like Facebook and Twitter use their users' posts to create traffic and attract advertisers, but users do not get any portion of the sales.

The trend is about to change because several new social networks are sharing their the earnings with users who make trending posts.

Bonzo Me is a new social network that came online in early July. It pays users up to 80 percent of the earnings it receives from revenues of trending posts.

The creator of Bonzo Me, New Jersey surgeon Michael Nusbaum, said he thought Facebook and other social network have been taking advantage of people for a quite a while.

"Facebook has been making a ton of money, and the people providing the content aren't getting anything," Nusbaum said.

Bubble News is another social networking site that pays users based on trending posts and ads.

The network came out of its test phase last week.

It pays users based on the number of views or hits that translates to the number of times that a post is liked, shared, commented on or viewed. The company plans to pay the users every time they reach US$50 worth of hits.

Bubble News CEO Arvind Dixit said they are trying to be "fair" with users so that they will not feel like social networks are exploiting them.

He added though that people should not expect that it is a full time job they can leave their current jobs for.
