China's dream of hosting the World Cup is a step closer once it will receive the full support of Asian Football Confederation, according to Alex Soosay, AFC general secretary via Yahoo News.

The Malaysian administrator expressed that the region deserves a place in the finals and a greater representation at the tournament.

China has faced by issues of corruption but they are currently getting back on track. The image of Asian football is slowly recovering following years of a failed leadership.

"China has everything a World Cup should offer," said Soosay, who elucidated China's other qualities such as facilities, infrastructure and economy.  China also hosted the Asian Cup last 2004 and yielded good results from it.

"Asia has always backed China," Soosay further added, expressing that China is something that can't be denied as a potential country and a higher chance of hosting the World Cup boosts the promotion of Chinese football.

Almost 13 years ago, two Asian countries, Japan and South Korea, hosted the World Cup.

The first proposal for China as a primary selection was introduced by former FIFA president Joao Havelange in the late 1980s.

Soosay also pointed out that Asia, currently provided four World Cup berths and possibly a fifth berth through intercontinental playoffs, should have awarded another finalist.

During the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, none of the teams from Asia stood out in the later games. However, Soosay pointed out that each of the teams' performances were improving as compared to the previous years.

The next World Cup, set in 2022, will be held in Qatar.  Andy Roxburgh is hired as the new technical director, with the objective of fulfilling Asia's dream to win the World Cup.

The 2019 FIFA Committee, collaborating with the 2023 Congress, still has to decide where the 2026 tournament will occur.
