Sean Bean, who played the departed Ned Stark in the first season of HBO's hit series Game of Thrones, may have confirmed a popular fan theory that has been brewing for some time now.
In an interview with Jennifer Vineyard from Vulture, Bean may have revealed a succinct but intense detail about his character's bastard son Jon Snow, played by Kit Harington.

The site asked Bean whether he has been taking interest in coming back to the show and playing his role of Lord Eddard Stark for flashback sequences experienced by his son Brandon Stark, played by Isaac Hempstead Wright.
While Bean expressed his interest in returning to Game of Thrones, he also stated the aspect of Ned Stark's life that he preferred the flashbacks to focus on.
"That should happen, shouldn't it?" Bean stated. "I've definitely got some unfinished business that needs to be resolved there. I'm obviously not Jon Snow's dad."
While such statement may be worth a couple more interpretations, his last line has caused a considerable stir among Game of Thrones fans who have also read George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books.
With this, Bean may have confirmed one of the most popular fan theories in relation to the Game of Thrones storyline that Jon Snow's parents are Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, Ned's sister.
Another popular assumption is that Jon Snow may be a genuine Stark as opposed to being a bastard, although not through Ned.
Bean has looked over the books and has understood much about his character's ordeals. In an interview with Collider in 2011, he stated how his character takes on interesting twists in the story, being surrounded by evil and double-dealing people.
As Bean has extensively looked into his character as depicted in the books, online critics have pointed out the possibility that the actor may have taken his keenness over into an interview where his GoT-related statements may be misunderstood as conclusive commentary.
The fifth season of Game of Thrones has been announced to incorporate scenes from "A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance With Dragons", the fourth and fifth books, respectively. Five directors have been lined up to take on two back-to-back episodes each.
