July 1^st, the grand premiere of "Love on the Rooftop", which was directed by Jay Chou, was held in Beijing Workers' Gymnasium. Director Jay Chou, supervisor Liu Genghong attended the premiere, along with Xu Fan, Li Xinai, Huang Huaichen, Darren and Dantou who starred in the film. After six years away from the moviedom, Jay Chou comes back with his latest masterpiece. The movie will hit the big screen nationwide on July 11^th. Jay Chou said directing the film was not for fun. He wishes that Chinese musical comedy can go abroad, and win a good reputation for Chinese filmmakers.

During the premiere, the producers showed three pieces of movie clips to audience in advance. Among them, "Sister Jasmine" Xu Fan sings and dances in the film for the first time, presents a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere on the rooftop. In the film, Jay Chou took advantage of Chinese shadow play elements to create a romantic picture of moonlight dripping on the rooftop.

In the film of "Love on the Rooftop", Jay Chou shows a scroll painting of lives in 1970s and 1980s of China, with his unique "Chou" Style. He also invited Wang Xueqin, Zeng Zhiwei and Xu Fan to join in the film; even a famous Hong Kong director Andrew Lau also played a role in the film. Jay Chou said: "I invited so many awesome actors and actresses. That's because I'm not just shoot a film for fun. I'm serious. In my opinion, a good reputation of the film comes in first place. And box office comes next. As regards award, it is just a game."

Looking back the whole process of directing the film, Jay Chou said he was quite serious when being a director. However, many of the actors, including Liu Genghong, Huang Huaichen and Dantou, are director's old friends. So the atmosphere during the casting is very comfortable. "Just a glance, they will know what to do." Jay Chou joked.
