Going from China to the United States has now become easier as more Chinese airlines are flying from the mainland to the US than the other way around, the Center for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) revealed.

This year marks the first time that China has overtaken the US in terms of number of airlines flying between the two countries, as more Chinese tourists are going out of the country for leisure and trade, CAPA said.

In a statement, CAPA said Chinese airlines, led by China Southern, Hainan Airlines, China Eastern and Air China will be flying 2,030 times each week to different destinations in the United States while only

1,852 flights each week will be carried out by American airlines to China.

The current trend is even expected to continue in the coming years as the International Air Transport Association of forecast that one in five airline passengers around the world will be traveling to, from or around China.

And travelers onboard Chinese airlines will be in for a travel experience onboard brand new airplanes as Chinese carriers continue to expand their fleet by purchasing Boeing 777 or 787. The expansion is part of the airlines' effort to accommodate the growing number of Chinese tourists that are expected to travel around the world.

Latest government data showed that at least 100 million Chinese citizens, with money to burn, are expected to make overseas trips this year for either leisure or business.

Earlier, the world's major airplane manufacturer, Boeing, said China will need at least 6,000 commercial airplanes over the next 20 to address the need of the growing number of Chinese travelers.

China's low-cost budget carrier will take the huge chunk of the demand for new aircraft, especially for airplanes that have single aisle, said Boeing Product Marketing director Jim Haas.

Of the projected 6,000 new aircraft demand, a total of 72 percent will be for single-aisle passenger planes and 13 percent for aircraft that have wide body.

Recently, China's fourth-largest airline, Hainan Airlines, announced that it will buy 30 Boeing 787-9 jets to further expand its international routes.
