Actress Charlize Theron was spotted wearing a gigantic diamond on her ring finger, further fueling rumors that actor Sean Penn had proposed.

The 38-year old actress was walking through the Los Angeles International Airport on Wednesday when she was photographed wearing the alleged engagement ring.

According to a source that talked with US Weekly, "They want to get married very soon. Sean is revitalized with Charlize."

The couple, who are both Academy Award winners, will be shooting a drama in South Africa this summer. Penn will be directing, while Theron will be starring in the flick. While in Africa, Theron and Penn are allegedly planning to get married and adopt a child.

Penn has two kids, Dylan and Hopper. Theron, on the other hand, adopted her son Jackson in 2012, but "always intended to have another child".

News about the two dating began when they were photographed together in Hawaii December 30 of last year.

Although the two have only been dating less than a year, they have been friends for the last 18 years.

CNN host Pier Morgan confirmed the couple's relationship after attending Penn's "Help Haiti" gala last January 11.

Morgan wrote in a blog post, ""I walked over to Sean's table, where he was sitting with new girlfriend Charlize Theron.  'I'm so glad you two have got together,' I said, 'Sean's a great guy.' 'I know,' she smiled, putting her hand round his shoulder."

Theron went public about her feelings for 53-year old Penn in the June issue of Vogue.

She shared that her relationship with Penn came as an unexpected surprise, since they were really good friends. She said they had to be very careful because they might "screw that up and lose it. We had to think about it."

Theron separated with long-term partner, actor Stuart Townsend in 2010, while Penn was previously married to pop icon Madonna and actress Robin Wright.
