Fan Plays 'Star Wars' Theme On Flaming Bagpipes For May The 4th

On May 4, a fan dressed up as BB-8 droid and played the "Star Wars" theme as well as the Imperial March on flaming bagpipes while balancing on a ball, all for the sake of "Star Wars" Day.

Brian Kidd, also known as The Unipiper, wore a BB-8 hat while balancing on a ball that resembles the swatches of BB-8, which GeekTyrant counted as "cosplaying as the character."

The BB-8 droid was first seen in the first trailer of the much-anticipated "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," where the world was treated to glimpses of the characters in the seventh installment.

However, unlike any cosplayer, Kidd upped the ante by playing the songs of the much-loved space saga on bagpipes that shot out flames as an homage to "Star Wars" Day.

Initially starting out as an inside thing of fans of the franchise, "Star Wars" Day is observed and celebrated on May 4 all over the world. A play on the saying "May the force be with you," it has turned into an international holiday where "Star Wars" fans gather and honor the masterpiece of George Lucas.

In observance of May 4, Vanity Fair released photos online from the set as taken from the lens of acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz. Included were photos of "Girls" star Adam Driver wearing the all-black getup of the new age baddie Kylo Ren, a snapshot of Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o's face decked in tracking dots, and a look at Gwendolyn Christie of "Game of Thrones" as the chrome stormtrooper with many others, as supplements for their May issue.

The JJ Abrams-helmed movie will have its theatrical release on December 2015, and fans are very much excited not just for returning characters but for new ones, such as the adorable and already loved BB-8.
