No Need To Spend $22K On Gold Apple Watch; Jewelers Can Do It For $400

(Photo : Reuters) Apple is hiring fashion experts for its retail workers, in preparation for the launch of the Apple Watch in Spring 2015.
Why spend $22,000 on a gold-plated Apple Watch when you can go down your local jewelry store and ask them to have it gold plated for only $400?
This is the service that several jewelry stores are selling, and starting at $399, the deal seems to be a fair trade. Lokalee reports at least three different companies offer their gold-plating services to ordinary Apply Watch wearers.

Watchplate.com is easily the best choice of all three, offering a $399 deal wherein after placing an order, they will send a prepaid courier box, and within three business days after shipping, you will have in your hands a gold-plated smart watch.
First announced in March 2015 during an Apple event, the Apple Watch has always received mixed reviews, since compared to other smartwatches in the market, the Apple Watch is nothing special, with mediocre specifications that fail to excite the next smartphone user.
On the other hand, Time Preserve, located in Waterford, Michigan, takes about one week to plate an Apple Watch with 18-karat gold at a slightly steeper price of $550.
However, a Geneva company that goes by the name Golden Dreams offers the highest price among the three but is considered the safest bet of them all.
Starting at $3,500, clients can pre-order an already-plated Apple Watch that comes in three models for you to choose from: 18-karat rose gold, 18-karat white gold, or the highly extravagant 24-karat yellow gold.
The users of Reddit, a popular forum site, have continuously made fun of gold-plating the watch, with some saying that Apple is simply doing a sales tactic called "anchoring," where they market a certain variety of products as higher-priced so as to skyrocket the chances of selling the main product.
It should be noted that despite its high pricing, the Apple Watch is still a hot commodity, with Apple getting more than a million orders prior to the release date.
