A woman from Florida, held against her will by an estranged boyfriend, was rescued by the authorities through a discreet message sent through her pizza ordered online last Wednesday, according to The Straits Times.

Cheryl Treadway and her three children were threatened by Ethan Nickerson, Treadway's 26-year-old boyfriend, in her home located in Highlands, Florida. Treadway was desperate to call for help but was unsuccessful since Nickerson confiscated her phone.

When the mother of three requested to make a pizza order, he gave the phone back to her briefly to place an order as quick as she could.

This became an opportunity for Treadway to get attention for help. She typed her message in the comments section of the online order form. The comments section is typically the area where the extra services are noted such as extra pepperoni, less cheese, and more vegetables.

"Please help! Get 911 to me," wrote Treadway, which was then read by the workers at the nearest Pizza Hut branch. The staff called the sheriff's office addressing the concern.

Treadway wrote "911hostagehelp" in the pizza order.

Police were sent to Treadway's home and she was already standing outside with one child in her arms. Her other children were inside the house with Nickerson. She then informed the police that Nickerson held a knife as a dangerous weapon.

Nickerson, in response, refused to surrender because he knew he would be sent to jail.

After 20 minutes of meticulous negotiation, the police finally convinced Nickerson to surrender and return Treadway's children. Nickerson was believed to be high on meth while holding Treadway's family as hostage.

Treadway was commended for having a quick initiative to call out for help without getting in trouble with Nickerson. Even Lieutenant Curtis Ludden expressed that he wouldn't know what to do if he was in her shoes and Treadway did the right thing naturally.

Nickerson was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated assault with a weapon without intent to kill, battery, false imprisonment and obstruction of justice by impeding communication to the authorities.
