(Photo : Daimler Trucks North America) Daimler tested the self-driving truck in Germany in July, but on a stretch of motorway with no other traffic on it.
Self-driving cars are making buzz and it might come out into showrooms pretty soon.
Now, it might be a proof that self-driving trucks will roll down the freeways soon. The sight of Daimler, a freight-liner inspiration truck, is known to be the first in the country that successfully received an autonomous commercial truck license.

Named as “Inspiration”, it drives on public road and seen at the Nevada’s highways not for testing purposes but for business as well.
Daimler Trucks North America LLC has launched it on Tuesday in a night drive and a driver steering which is atop the Hoover Dam on the Nevada-Arizona border.
Taking a line from astronaut Neil Armstrong, Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard of Daimler Trucks and Buses told the crowd that they were about to witness “a short drive for man and a long haul for mankind.”
It was Wednesday, when company had planned test-drives and invited media to show of the modern and automated technology.
“We are really showing that we’re at the cradle of innovation,” said Gov. Brian Sandoval on Tuesday after they have settled the automated vehicle license to the truck.
Daimler is not taking customer orders yet as the truck isn’t quite working well in reality.
“We’re far from that. We’re just getting people inspired,” said Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, member of the board of management of Daimler AG.
The company is grateful for the state license as they could ship goods between Reno and Las Vegas on a state highways and it could be the first of its kind for an autonomous semi-truck.
However, the company is set to conduct more test and show off more of the trucks capabilities.
“You have to give people something to play with,” said Daimler Trucks North America president and CEO Martin Daum. Only then can the company make a product to sell.
