ABC Cancels 'Forever,' Other Series That Failed To Make The Cut

Stars of Forever

(Photo : REUTERS/Mario Anzuoni) Cast members Ioan Gruffudd and Alana De La Garza attend a panel for the ABC television series "Forever" during the Television Critics Association Cable Summer Press Tour in Beverly Hills, California July 15, 2014.

It seems like nothing really lasts forever, as the adorable Ioan Gruffudd drama series has followed Resurrection and Revenge out the door after network giant ABC tried to make room for its new TV shows scheduled to debut in the fall.

ABC has also canceled the sit-com Cristela, starring Cristela Alonzo after just one season and it looks like the competition is over for the daytime cooking-themed reality competition series, The Taste.

However, there are also several shows that have been given the green light to continue such as Nashville headlined by Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere, Castle, Secrets and Lies, Once Upon a Time, Galavant and American Crime.

All of super producer Shonda Rhimes' shows have also been renewed, as well as Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which actually comes as no surprise considering that it has always been the only show in all of ABC's Marvel slate with the best chance of survival.

Agent Carter, the spin-off series of Captain America, is also sticking around for one more year.

ABC has also handed out the renewal notices of some of their rookie comedy shows like Fresh Off the Boat, Black-ish and The Goldbergs, joining The Middle and Modern Family, which will be returning for their seventh seasons.

On the reality front, ABC has again picked up the very entertaining Dancing with the Stars for their 21st season. Shark Thank will come back for its 7th season, The Bachelor for its 20th season, America's Funniest Home Videos for its 26th season and the reality companion series, Beyond the Tank, for its second season.

One series whose fate is still up in the air, however, is Tim Allen's Last Man Standing, which if renewed, comes back for its fifth season.

ABC's fall 2015 schedule will be announced on Tuesday, May 12, in New York.
