(Photo : www) Lu was born in 1990 in China and has conquered Korea's KPop scene as a member of the South Korean band EXO. After conquering adoring Korean fans, Lu shifted focus to China in 2014, starring in domestic films and TV shows, and releasing a number of singles.

After his performance in the comedy movie "20 Once Again," the Chinese adaptation of the South Korean original "Miss Granny," Lu Han won the admiration of many viewers, which resulted in him taking home the "Most Popular Actor" award at the 22nd Beijing College Student Film Festival Awards on Saturday.

Though many of Lu Han's fans weren't surprised that the former EXO and EXO-M member won the award, many were skeptical of his win and said that it wasn't because of his acting skills.

In his acceptance speech, Lu Han expressed his gratitude and said that he's honored to be given such an award, but as a newcomer to the movie industry, he admitted that there is still a lot he needs to improve on. He further explained that he has to take "his acting skills to the next level" for him to become a "real actor."

The charming 25-year old's speech was met with smiles and applause from the audience, which seemingly served as further proof of support for his new endeavor.

Lu Han's road to success was not without difficulties. It was previously reported that netizens have been bashing the rising superstar for simply achieving greater success than the former leader of EXO-M, Wu Yi Fan. However, Lu Han appears to be unfazed by the negativity surrounding his success as he remains focused on his upcoming movie, another Chinese adaptation of the South Korean movie "Blind," as well on making his Hollywood debut in the movie "The Great Wall" which stars Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe, and Andy Lau.

Meanwhile, at the same awards ceremony, Wu Yi Fan's co-star, 30-year old Wang Likun, bagged the "Most Popular Actress" award for her portrayal of Jin Tian in the romantic drama movie "Somewhere Only We Know."

Also in attendance at the star-studded ceremony are Huang Xiaoming, He Jiong, Wang Xiaoshuai and Peter Chan.
