‘Wanted’ Star James McAvoy Rocks Professor X Look for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Actor James McAvoy finally settled into his latest role as the prolific founder of the X-Men, Professor Xavier, by shaving his head similar to his character's signature look. "X-Men: Days of Future Past" director Bryan Singer posted a photo of McAvoy's new look on his Instagram page last Friday.

Singer's post reads, "#Xavier reborn (in process ) #jamesmcavoy #XMEN #XMenApocalypse @xmenmovies."
McAvoy will reprise the role of Professor X after his splendid performance in last year's "X-Men: Days of Future Past," this time in the franchise's latest and possibly biggest screen hit, "Apocalypse." In the previous movie, McAvoy still had a head full of brown hair when future Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, went back in time and rallied the X-Men to fight against the rise of the Sentinels.
While it might seem a minor change in theory, McAvoy's new shaved head could in fact pave the way to an important story arc that the series' creators have yet to explore: how Professor X lost his hair. In the comics universe, his hair fell off as a result of his powers. After all, being the world's most powerful telepath doesn't come without a few downsides.
Set in the 1980s, Apocalypse will complete the storylines of the X-Men franchise's "First Class" characters. Filming began about two weeks ago, and the film's creators plan to have it released by May 2016.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" will star other recurring actors and actresses like Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), and Nicholas Hoult as Beast. Moreover, the movie will star newcomers like Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones' Sansa Stark) as the new Jean Grey/Phoenix, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Ben Hardy as Angel, and Lana Condor as Jubilee. It also stars Oscar Isaac of the latest "Star Wars" film as Apocalypse.
