California investigators claimed that they have solved the mystery of porcelain dolls resembling real children left in front of houses in San Clemente.

Turns out some lady from southern California was playing Santa way too early.

The series of porcelain doll deliveries started on July 16 in at least eight homes in the Talega community in San Clemente, leaving residents freaked out.

"I'm actually thinking the worst, like someone creepy watching our children and I'm actually pretty scared about it," Mary Robin Baziak, a resident and regular church goer in the Orange County neighborhood stated.

Most parents with dolls delivered to their homes believed that the inanimate mannequins resembled their daughters, stressing that this particular detail troubled them most.

"Hopefully it's a prank and not someone with very bad motives," another resident said.

Families started filing police reports about the dolls which were initially shrugged off by authorities since there was no crime. However, as reports piled up and families learned about more and more dolls being delivered, the police started looking for a pattern.

"We're examining the dolls in an attempt to identify who may have manufactured [them]," Lt. Jeff Hallock of the Orange County Sheriff's department told People explaining that doing so may help them track who sent the dolls.

Some of the children go to the same elementary school and most are around the age of 10.

On Thursday night, investigators told the press that the Orange County Sheriff's department found out that a Southern California woman was the "mystery Santa" and she does not have any ill intention for what she did.

"Investigators made contact with the female adult who admitted to placing the porcelain dolls on the porch of the various residences in the community. Investigators have concluded that her motivation was out of goodwill and that she intended it as a kind gesture," the press release indicated adding that no further investigations will be made.

According to reports, the doll sender has decided to clear out her doll collection and surprise her neighbors by delivering the dolls anonymously to their doorsteps.
