Looks like a bad news for American Idol fans! One of the most popular reality show, "American Idol" will end after its 15th season concludes in 2016.

After continuing for a long time, the popular singing competition is slated to return for its 15th and final season next year. With none of its singers being voted out by Fox, the show will return next year. However, in the wake of the last couple of winners failing to grab much attention, the once-monumental hit will see its final season in 2016.

Fox dropped the bomb in a 2015-2016 schedule announcement released Monday morning, prior to the network's presentation later in the day to advertisers in New York.

The huge decision will end a show which debuted in 2002. Original judges Rany Jackson and Simon Cowell left the show which also helped launch the careers of Phillip Phillips, Scotty McCreery, Lee DeWyze, Jordin Sparks and Clay Aiken. Many other singing competition including "The Voice" and "The Sing-Off" followed American Idol, according to reports on CBS News.

Fox Networks Group co-chief Gary Newman admitted that the cancellation was not an easy decision, however they felt it was time to bring the show to an end. Newman added that the final, 15th run will be a true season-long celebration while producers look for surprises for fans in order to make the farewell significant considering the run it had on the network.

On board for the final run will be host Ryan Seacrest, and it's critically praised judging panel will include Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. American Idol in its first decade was a cultural phenomenon, introducing the public to future superstars.

That said, Idol saw decline in its rating and is averaging only a little more than 10 million viewers per episode this year.
