Widely known as Linkin Park's official DJ and programmer, Joe Hahn has made his full feature debut with his movie "Mall", a movie about a dreadful shooting that took place at a shopping mall.
This Thursday, the film had an exclusive screening at the 5th annual Nerd HQ event at San Diego's Petco Park for Comic-Con, after Grammy Award-winning rap-metal group Linkin Park performed at the mtvU Fandom Awards.

The band has headlined the first-ever mtvU Fandom Awards and the MTV Fan Fest which will air at 8 p.m. on MTV this Sunday. Linkin Park will return to San Diego on Sept. 16 for their performance at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre.
After the screening, a "Conversations for a Cause" Q&A was carried out presenting the likes of Hahn, composer Alec Puro, producer Sam Maydew (Silver Lining Entertainment), and other cast members.
Based on Eric Bogosian novel in 2001, the people behind "Mall" include Vincent D'Onofrio (star/producer/screenwriter), Gina Gershon (Killer Joe), Cameron Monaghan (TV's Shameless), Peter Stormare (Fargo), and James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom).
The thriller looks into a group of aggrieved individuals who find themselves inside a shopping mall in the middle of an apparent random shooting.
"The script needed a main voice to lead you through the film; Jeff [Cameron Monaghan] was chosen as the one because of his dynamic character arc in his personal growth and realizations about life," Hahn said, referring to the narrative being done by a single person.
He also added, "There is a quote in the film where Jeff says, 'I am not stuck, I am unstuck.' In that moment, Jeff chooses his own destiny to not take the easy way out like the other characters in the film."
"Mall" marked Hahn's debut as a feature film director.
The movie had been acquired by Paragon Pictures earlier this year, and will premiere nationwide after Linkin Park's Carnivores Tour.
Hahn has been known to direct over 30 music videos, including those of his band, and claimed that such projects "helped make the transition to feature length very natural."
