Dance music label Ultra Records is suing YouTube star and makeup guru Michelle Phan for alleged copyright infringement.
Phan's channel on YouTube has had over 6.7 million subscribers. According to Ultra Records' claims, Phan used songs from its artists in her highly popular makeup videos without permission.

The suit cited at least 50 instances of how Phan exemplified "blatant copyright infringement." It also added that "Plaintiffs' analysis is still preliminary, and the full extent of Phan's infringement has not yet been determined."
The label is now intent on seeking $150,000 for each instance of infringement and an order to prevent Phan from using the tunes of Ultra's artists.
Grammy-nominated DJ Kaskade was mentioned in the lawsuit.
In contrast to the demands of Ultra Records, he defended Phan by tweeting: "I'm not suing @MichellePhan + @ultrarecords isn't my lapdog. I can't do much about the lawsuit except voice support for her.'
He also added that, "I find that @MichellePhan has great taste in music *ahem*, and knows secrets on how to make my eyes really POP. What's not to like?"
Ultra Records LLC and Ultra International Music Publishing LLC filed the suit at Los Angeles' U.S. District Court on July 16.
As a response, Phan's team claimed that the lawsuit "lacks any merit."
According to their spokesman, Ultra had given permission for Michelle to use their artists' music. As such, Michelle aims to fight the given lawsuit and put forward her own claims against the record label.
It was also emphasized that Michelle always seeks to support other artists, generating a platform for their work to be made known to a global audience.
Phan began posting videos on YouTube in 2007 and has since become a well-loved makeup video blogger on the website.
The Barbie Transformation Tutorial, one of her most famous YouTube videos, has been watched over 50 million times. Her tutorial on recreating Lady Gaga's look has been viewed over 45 million times.
Her online success later led to endorsement deals, allowing Phan to rake in at least $5 million in 2012.
