Apple has released a new beta build for the iOS 8.4 mobile platform.

The Cupertino-based company released a third beta version of iOS 8.4 for developers to play around with a month before World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC).

Included in this new beta version is a revamped Music app with a cleaner look and added functionalities. The updated Music app will also host new iterations of iTunes Radio and a Beats Music-inspired streaming service. The new Music app is expected to be announced at WWDC on June 8 and publicly available later that month.

Apple Inc. tax operation has typically used its WWDC keynotes to show off iOS updates to iOS and OS X software developers before releasing the final version for public consumption later in the summer.

First released as a beta build for developers in April, iOS 8.4 looks to deliver the usual assortment of bug and security fixes for iPhones, iPods and iPads, as well as an overhauled Music app that could be accompanied at WWDC by a refresh of Apple's iTunes Radio streaming service.

According to Billboard.com, Apple has been in heated talks with record labels to get more music available on iTunes Radio to help it better compete with the likes of iHeartRadio and Pandora. But company execs have reportedly been disappointed with the service's lackluster sales since its September 2013 launch, and big changes may be in the offing – possibly even including opening iTunes to Android devices.

In addition, Apple released a new beta build of OS X Yosemite 10.10.4. You need to be a registered beta user running earlier versions of the beta to get this new build, number 14E17e. The Mac App Store’s Updates icon should indicate an update ready for download. Apple notes that the focus areas in this beta update are Photos application, the Migration Assistant, and Arabic and Hebrew language support.
