Microsoft has announced on Tuesday that the Skype Translator will be available to all users.
The Skype Translator does not require the user to sign up for a waiting list to use the device. The "Star Trek-style" translator is easy to use as the user will just talk to the native language he used and the other person will hear it in their own language. On Skype official website, the company said that the Skype Translator will allow the user to communicate with other people who have different language, to eliminate language barrier.
To use the new feature, the user needs to set up a Skype Translator video call or video, with the other user who uses Skype in a different language. The company added that the translator works in anyone who has a Skype account with no invite required.
It is said that in using the feature, the conversation is translated into another language real-time and the user can send an instant message across different languages from Arabic to Yucatec Maya and more.
Since Microsoft is currently working on its program, the new feature's preview app can only be used on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 devices. According to Skype Blog, the user who wants to use the new feature can simply download the Skype Translator preview application from the Windows Store for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 preview tablet or PC.
Aside from the available spoken languages such as English, Mandarin, Spanish and Italian, the Skype Translator features 50 instant message languages including Chinese, Dutch, French, Germany, Polish, Thai, Slovenian, Estonian, Greek, Hindi and more.
The blog added that since Skype Translator was released in December, with a real-time voice translation in English, Italian, Mandarin and Spanish, the company has received positive feedback "from all the early adopters."
The company said that one of them is Pro Mujer, a non-profit development organization in New York City, a dedicated company that gives Latin American women with vital health, financial and human development services that are mostly out of reach.
On the blog, it stated that Skype is delighted that Pro Mujer is using its services, adding that the new Skype Translator will definitely make an impact to many lives.
