China and Russia signed economic deals and financial agreements as part of the 32 bilateral ties between the two nations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping presided the signing ceremony, securing $6 billion in investments from China in an intercity rail line in Russia, as well as establishing an information security agreement touted as a non-agression pact in cyberspace, as reported by the New York Times.

The talks could also be seen as the former Soviet Union turning its head to Asian investors, as the Wallstreet Journal pointed out, to ease their dependency on the United States and Europe in the course of their current situation with Ukraine after sanctions cut them off global capital markets.
However, despite the warm welcome for Russia by their east neighbors, tension was still felt between the two nations because of the absence of agreements on the oil pricing from Russia to China, sprouting from the pipeline from Siberia to the border of China.
The two world leaders did talk about various economic endeavors, such as the Silk Road Economic Belt, the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as the Chinese involvement in the proceedings of Russian oil giant Vankor in Eastern Siberia, as reported by US News.
In cyberspace, the two made a pact to not launch cyberattack, as well as condemned destabilization propaganda by means of the Internet.
The Silk Road Economic Belt is a large-scale Beijing project with goals of fostering infrastructure development in former Soviet Central Asia, among other things. The Eurasian Economic Union is an economic alliance between Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia, envisioning the cooperation of the said counties in developing an economic space within the Eurasian continent.
Together, the two nations were able to find a common agenda that will avoid disagreements between the two spheres.
