There's a larger high definition television that costs a little less.
Toshiba Corporation, the Japanese multinational engineering and electronics giant, is marketing an entry level LED TV called the Toshiba 50L2400U.
The new TV set only costs US$679 and is considered cheap among competing brands. Toshiba claims the TV is exceptionally simple to operate.

The L2400U, an 1080p TV, is best under medium or bright lighting and serves well for video gaming.
Its ClearScan processing helps create solid motion performance, which is good for sports lovers, daytime talk show enthusiasts and couch potatoes.
For all types of viewers, however, there's this issue of backlight uniformity. Bleeding black and dark-gray areas causes images to appear uneven.
The speaker performance of the L2400U is quite good and produces clear and crisp sound. It also offers different sound modes, bass/treble adjustment sliders and a surround sound imitation.
Picture-quality enthusiasts will be happy to know that the L2400U keeps many of the advanced settings from previous years.
ColorMaster, a built-in color tuner, is still present. The color temperature menu still keeps a two-point white balance control.
A test drive of the L2400U revealed some notable downsides. It produces inferior color accuracy and has poor uniformity.
Users should expect shadowy content and seems unable to preserve duller colors and details within shadows.
There are color errors like dull red and heavily tilted magentas.
