Astrophysicists Capture Planets’ Weather Forecast

Astrophysicists have found proof of the weather condition in the nearby planets using the NASA's Kepler space telescope. The team focuses in creating weather forecast based on the different phase of the planets that are reflected from their source light. The team of astrophysicists at universities in Canada and Great Britain are now in charge for close monitoring of the six exoplanets.

According to Lisa Esteves from the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Toronto, that they are working hard to identify the weather condition of these other planets by calculating the changes happen while they go around its host start. They also observed carefully the day-night cycle in each planet to indicate the time frame. She added that they are able to figure out the cycle of phases especially when one portion of the planet is brightened by its star and this portion become fully lit and the other side has become completely dark.
A forecast is presented by scientists, showing four of the planets have cloudy morning and clear blazing afternoons on the other two. The forecast is based on who the planet rotates by performing an eastward motion of their atmospheric winds. This wind movement will blow the clouds on the other side as it transform into cooler win on the other portion of the planet during morning.
Steve explained that while the wind continues to move on the other side, it heat up and disperse, projecting a very clear sky. The high temperature is the result of wind pushes the hot air eastward from the meridian.
On an article published in Science Daily, Kepler telescope only proves that it should be the right instrument use when trying to learn the nature of other planets. The telescope can capture precise measurements and it contains a lot of data that allows the user to see all the tiny details, including the short signals from nearby planets.
Additional information shows that what we though as phase cycle variation can be up to 100,000 times fainter than its host star. Researchers added that there will be a time that weather report from other planet is no longer unusual for us.
