Shaquille O'Neal presented an impromptu freestyle rap audition on a video released on Wednesday for the "NBA 2K15" soundtrack, telling Williams to consider adding his songs into the mix.

The former NBA athlete with a platinum record publicly presented a few lines of an impromptu freestyle rap on YouTube to Pharrell Williams, curator of the "NBA 2K15" soundtrack, in an effort to have one of O'Neals' songs in the game.

"Yo, Pharrell, this is Shaq/ Put me on the '2K15' track/ I won't let you down, that's just dumb/ Me and you both went platinum," O'Neal rapped.

One of the signs shows the continuing sophistication of the "NBA 2K" series throughout the years is the game series' soundtrack, according to Sports Illustrated.

The franchise has gradually built up its considerable music ensemble over the past few games, according to Ben Sin, writer of Extra Mustard. With Pharrell's help, Sin believes that the new soundtrack will feature the widest collection of famous artists in the history of the series.

Sin said that he remembers the first game with no known musicians on its soundtrack, before gradually enlisting minor music celebrities like Lupe Fiasco in "NBA 2K7" and Ace Hood in "NBA 2K10."

"For '2K15,' the game has enlisted Pharrell's help, and seeing as how the Grammy winning producer and jack of all trades has worked with, almost literally, every big name in the U.S. music industry, the '2K15' soundtrack is likely going to be the most star-studded yet," Sin said.

Whether the former NBA center's possible inclusion on the soundtrack is good or bad will depend on a person's taste in music, he added.

Williams, the 41-year-old singer-songwriter, said he was "pumped and excited" to be able to curate the soundtrack for the upcoming game, and was "honored" to be selected following the footsteps of Jay Z and LeBron James.

Meanwhile, O'Neal has been busy with advertising. His agent, Perry Rogers, said O'Neal makes more money now from TV, endorsements and partnerships than he has made doing the same work while he was playing basketball.
