English actor Sir Roger Moore, 87, best known for playing secret agent James Bond between 1973 and 1985 won a libel case yesterday at the High Court. Moore received undisclosed libel damages including legal costs and an apology over a story that appeared in the Daily Mail last year in October.

According to the article published by Daily Mail in 2014, the suave and dashing actor who received a knighthood in 2003, had groped a young lady during the filming of the Bond film "For Your Eyes Only" in 1961. These claims brought humiliation to the now 87-year-old actor as well as his family.
The lady whom the British actor allegedly groped was Debbie Newsome. Newsome was just 21 years old then when she appeared in a small role in the sixth James Bond film where Moore portrayed the role of the famous British Secret agent.
The story claimed that Moore not only groped the 21-year-old Newsome but had also made advances towards her. He also allegedly gave her a gold bracelet that was covered in diamonds including a bottle of expensive Champagne. The gifts, the story claimed, also included an inappropriate note. This gift giving supposedly happened during a party at which his then wife was present.
Debbie Newsome was an Australian television personality best known for her role as co-host of Perfect Match. She lives in Australia and has two children. She now works as a singer performing a Janis Joplin tribute show.
The Daily Mail, New magazine, and Daily Star apologized to Moore for using false quotes in their stories. All three admitted that the quotes, from a "Sunday newspaper," were inaccurate. The Associated Newspapers' lawyer said it acknowledges that the claims were untrue. The defendant apologized for any distress and embarrassment caused to Moore and his family.
Sir Roger a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador since 1991, was not at London's High Court on Wednesday for the settlement of his libel action.
