Rihanna Makes History As First African American Face Of Dior, See ‘Only If For A Night’ Singer Sizzle In Shoot

Rihanna sizzled in her first images for Dior's newest campaign, making her the first woman of color to be the face of the brand. The 27-year-old RnB star looked nothing but exquisite and seductive in the first set of photos released for Dior's Secret Garden Campaign.

The ad was shot by renowned photographer Steven Klein and took place at the lavish Palace of Versailles, according to Yahoo!.

In one photo, the Bajan singer could be seen donning a cleavage-baring black dress covered in fur, paired with a bright red lipstick for a pop of color. Her face was covered with a black veil and her hands with dark red leather gloves.

In another photo, Rihanna was featured wearing a stunning red ball gown against the opulent halls of the Palace of Versailles, while another set showed her in a gorgeous dress adorned with jewels.

The pieces that Rihanna wore in the shoot were from the Esprit Dior collection.

The chart-topper is now among the list of campaign stars for Dior, joining current brand ambassadors Jennifer Lawrence and Natalie Portman.

"She has this kind of elegance. We saw it from the very first moment, and then she can surprise. She can be unexpected and we like it. It's part of this personality," Sidney Toledano, Dior's CEO told WWD of Rihanna.

"[Rihanna] is a goddess but accessible. The way she moves is part of the young generation," she added.

Aside from the photos, an accompanying short video advertisement with Riri was also released by the brand, which is already the fourth in the series. In the video, Rihanna is seen running through the famous Hall of Mirrors, wearing a red gown that she gathers up in her hands, with her song "Only If For A Night" playing in the background.

The three previous ads, on the other hand, showed models Daria Strokus, Melissa Stasiuk, and Xiao Wen Ju walking through the palace's embellished gardens, as reported by Mirror.

After the songstress was announced as the latest face of the luxury French brand, she unhesitatingly said the brand's decision meant "a lot" to her, describing the ads as a "big deal."

Back in March, Rihanna spoke to MTV News about the job, according to Express. She said that she was incredibly happy to have been offered such privilege.

"It feels fantastic. It is such a big deal for me, for my culture, for a lot of young girls of any colour. I think, to be acknowledged by Dior is just . . . it means a lot as a woman to feel beautiful, and elegant, and timeless," she told MTV.

Rihanna is the first African American woman to appear in a Dior campaign, making her images an iconic moment in the history of the brand.
