Al Horford’s Game Winning Shot Puts Hawks Ahead Of The Series, 3-2

What many sports analysts would agree is that the Atlanta Hawks doesn't have a go-to superstar the likes of LeBron James or Stephen Curry. However, the Hawks has Al Horford and the 28-year old center rallied his team in the closing seconds of game five to steal the win from Washington Wizards, 82-81.

Horford lead the Hawks' offense with a double-double figure, 23 points and 11 rebounds. He also scored the Hawks' winning shot with less than two seconds remaining on the regulation.

The heart-stopping moment came in at the Hawks' last drive.  With 6 seconds remaining on the game clock, point guard Dennis Schroder made a drive towards the basket only to be blocked by John Wall. The Wizards could have sealed the game if Nene secured the rebound. However, Horford came rushing in, grabbed the ball from Nene and made an easy two-points with just 1.7 seconds remaining.

The Wizards, without timeout, managed to inbound the ball into the half-court but failed to convert on their last possession.

Despite tallying 23 turnovers, the Hawks was able to convert most of their possession. Demarre Carroll added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks. Jeff Teague scored 14 points and added 5 assists.

The biggest surprise from the Hawks' bench was Mike Muscala. Playing the center position on his second season, Muscala did not play on the Hawks' first eight games of the playoff. On this game, Muscala scored the first eight points of the Hawks in the second quarter and grabbed three rebounds, according to NBA.com.

Bradley Beal lead the offense for the Wizards with 23 points, 4 assists and 7 rebounds. John Wall, despite coming from a hamstring injury, scored 15 points and grabbed 4 rebounds, according to Bleacher Report. Paul Pierce, who shot a crucial three-pointer late in the fourth quarter, has 11 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

The next game will be played on Friday at the Verizon Center, Washington, District of Columbia.
