It has been more than a year since Kesha finished her rehabilitation program for her eating disorder but before she sought treatment, the "We R Who We R" singer told Vogue magazine that she "went to a dark place."
Kesha, who suffered from anorexia and bulimia, revealed that she's experienced numerous "ups and downs." She told the fashion magazine, "It's been quite a journey. I went to a dark place. There was a lot of not eating."

The 28-year old singer explained that being criticized a lot was what forced her to starve herself and go on days without eating. At one point, she even considered that fainting was "a positive thing."
She said that people celebrated her disorders because the worse it became, the more compliments she received. Though people said she looked great, "Inside I was really unhappy," she revealed.
The singer, who's now recovered and healthy, said that it was her music who inspired her to seek treatment.
Kesha recalled singing her songs such as "We R Who We R," but felt sad because she knew she wasn't being genuine when she was singing it.
Fortunately, the singer realized that starving herself will not be good for her body or her brain. At the urging of her therapist, she finally decided to enter rehab and called her mom to tell her that she needed help.
Kesha checked herself in an eating disorder-specific rehab center where a nutritionist made her understand the importance of food and why the body needs it. After realizing that being healthy is the most important thing she can do for herself, "Now, I'm trying to embrace the skin I'm in," she assured.
Though she admits that it has been difficult, she reminds herself every day to be kind to herself.
"This is who I am," she said. "I have to love that."
