Obama Declares Iran As 'Sponsor Of Terrorism'

U.S. President Barack Obama officially declared Iran as a 'sponsor of terrorism' after the neighboring countries in the Gulf region expressed their concern about Tehran's activities.

This was declared barely three months after Iran was removed from the 'terrorist' list of countries that U.S. created, according to RT.

"Iran clearly engages in dangerous and destabilizing behavior in different countries across the region. Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism," said Obama in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.

Obama added that Iran was solely responsible for providing a "violent proxy" within the borders of other countries.

The U.S. President revealed that Iran's operations in the other nations help propagate the power of the Assad regime in Syria, supporting Lebanon's Hezbolah and Gaza strip's HAMAS. Obama elucidated that it even provides support to the Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Obama mentioned the countries, along with the terrorists that Iran discreetly associated with. The countries belonging to this region are right to express concern regarding Iran's activities.

This statement comes barely three months after Tehran was omitted from the yearly U.S. terrorism report after showing a continuous display of striving to fight terrorism.

Tehran fought off Sunni Muslim Extremists and even the Islamic State otherwise known as ISIS/ISIL. Tehran prevented these extremist groups from 'gaining large swaths of additional territory' in Iraq.

The U.S. relations with Israeli Prime Minister reportedly diminished after an ensuing period of Washington's negotiation with Tehran on a nuclear framework agreement. It was a definitive move that Obama's relations with Tehran would greatly improve from before.

Despite the growing relationship between U.S. and Iran before Obama declared Iran as a 'sponsor of terrorism' in Arab Publication, Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammed Javed Zarif expressed his belief that he was not surprised at this outburst.

"The U.S. President's statements are merely a repetition of his previous unfounded accusations to appease his allies," said Zarif, emphasizing that U.S. is pointing fingers on the current situation.

The foreign minister clarified that their policies focus on consolidating friendship and cooperation to facilitate stability and an assurance of protection in the regional area.
