Part of the prize money amounting to US$500,000 will be rewarded at BlizzCon which will be held in Anaheim, California on November 6 and 7. The team that emerges victorious at Anaheim gets $200,000 and the remaining prize money will be given to the winning regional teams.

Based on a Blizzard blog, the regional tournaments will start in June and ends in August. The blog also presented a diagram on how eight winning teams coming from five different regions will compete at the final round at BlizzCon.

Based on the chart, the tournaments will be held in North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia and Australia-New Zealand regions and the top team from each of these four regions will fight one another in the Americas Championship, wherein only two top teams from the Americas will proceed to the world championship.

Tournaments will also be held in Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan, in which, four top teams will fight for the sole qualifying slot to participate in the world championship. On the other hand, both China and Europe will send two of their best teams to Blizzcon while Korea can only send one team to Anaheim. In contrast to the other regions, only China and Korea will have teams coming from their professional league.

At the Blizzcon world tournament, the eight teams will be divided into two groups and only the winning two teams from each group will be allowed to advance for the next match.

Aside from the "Heroes of the Storm" Championship, Blizzard will also host world tournaments for "Hearthstone," "Starcraft 2" and "World of Warcraft."
