(Photo : Reuters) Researchers at a Hong Kong university have developed a cloud-based Artificial Intelligence technology named 'Zara the Supergirl.'
World's most famous Physicist and Cosmologist Stephen Hawking remarked that artificial intelligence might take over the human race in the next hundred years.
However, he is not the only one to have made such a statement. At recently convened Zeitgeist Conference in London, the CEO of Tesla Motors Ellon Musk also expressed his skepticism about the threat that artificial intelligence, in general, and robots pose to the Homo sapiens. Comparing artificial intelligence with demon, he added that humans should exercise great caution in this regard to avoid an existential crisis.

Reports by the Regal Tribune suggest that during an interview with the BBC, Hawking suggested that even though robots are harmless presently, they would overtake their makers in terms of intelligence, strength and height in future. This is a scary thought for some people though scientists can not be more excited about the future, said report.
It is said that this might lead to a rapid increase in the rate of evolution of this species, which would be hard for humans to keep track of. Moreover, he also suggested that it would be imperative for the humans to ascertain that they share common goals with these robots lest unfavorable consequences strike.
However, Computer World suggest that not all scientists and technologists are as concerned about Artificial Intelligence, being the devil, as Hawking and Musk. It seems that they believe it to be the brains not only behind robotics but also behind those apps which are used to power various smart phones.
They argue that it would take quite some time to develop a robot that could sustain by self-learning and awareness so as to fend the destruction of the human race; however, such claims by eminent people as Hawking and Musk might cause a slowdown in the research in this field.
