"Together Again" singer Janet Jackson celebrated her 49^th birthday yesterday with a gift not for herself, but for her fans, as she announced that she plans to release a new album and go on a world tour in the near future.

The news first surfaced when the singer tweeted using the hashtag "#ConversationsInACafe", which fans suggest could be the very title of her album. The tweet came with a Vimeo video that showed a sound system, as her voice speaks gently over background chatter and a bit of music. In the video, she said: " I promised you'd hear it from my lips, and now you will,"

Apparently, this is a reference to another tweet from last year, where she said fans would hear it from her lips first, should plans for a new album be on the way.

The youngest of the Jackson siblings, Janet rode the expressway to fame with her own 1986 album entitled "Control". This marked an important transition in the music industry, as her album was one of the first to merge Rhythm and Blues with the Hip-hop genre. She quickly rose to fame as a prolific singer and dancer, eventually selling more than 140 million records. Her last studio release was in 2008, with an electronic-focused album called "Discipline". When her brother and "Smooth Criminal" singer Michael Jackson passed away in 2009, she briefly disappeared from the public eye, at least within the music industry.

Jackson has since returned to her acting career, and went on an 80-date tour in 2011 to promote her greatest hits album. In 2012, she married Qatari mogul Wissam Al Mana.

As Billboard reports, Jackson wasn't alone in letting news of her new album to light. At least one of her longtime collaborators, producer Jimmy Jam, has also spread mysterious teasers and hints in the hours leading up to her tweet.
