Fans would only need to dust off their Cavs' No. 23 jersey from their closet because LeBron James has picked his old number back.

After taking to social media the search for his new number, the four-time National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) has decided to wear his old No. 23 jersey again when he suits up for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James posed a question on social media asking fans to help him pick a number for his jersey with the Cavs. He sought choices from 6-his number at Miami Heat, where he won two championships with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh-and 23-his old jersey at Cleveland.

Thousands of James' fans responded that he should wear the No. 23 again.

"23 it is! ... 2 (times) 3 (equals) 6 We still family 6," James tweeted back after evaluating his options.

He followed the tweet with an Instagram post with images of him in high school wearing the No. 23, holding a Cleveland jersey bearing the same number during his draft night in 2003 and a new Cavalier uniform.

LeBron James started wearing the No. 23 when he was still playing in high school for the Fighting Irish of St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in the small township of Bath in Akron, Ohio where he was named Mr. Basketball for three consecutive years.

When James finished high school, he sent his eligibility to the 2003 NBA Draft and was picked first-overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He wore the same number 23 throughout his seven-year stint with the Cavs before wearing the No. 6 jersey when he played for the Heat.

The No. 23 has been retired in a number of NBA teams in honor of Michael Jordan. The Heat likewise retired the number in deference to Jordan, even though he did not play for the team.
