In the 2012 London Olympic Games men's 110-meter hurdles, Liu Xiang fell down at the first hurdle in the preliminary competition. He rose groggily to hop to the finish line dramatically. After the game, Liu Xiang took an operation. Then he went to USA for further rehabilitation training in October 2012. It is estimated he will be back to China this year.
Though it is said Liu Xiang's recovery is quite satisfactory. But when he will come back to the oval track remains unknown. For the rumors that Liu Xiang is going to retire, Liu Xiang's personal coach Sun Haiping has denied for many times.
This Thursday, Liu Xiang expressed his attitude on running. He said: "During the rehabilitation training time in America, every time I see someone running gracefully on the oval plastic track or along the street, I can feel my feet itch like crazy. I really want to run with them." Moreover, Liu Xiang also encourages Chinese people to run. He said: "Running is a national sport in the United States. Have you begun running in China? Let's start from this summer, let's run together! What else do you want to do in this summer? Just tell me and share with me."
For Liu Xiang's suggestion, some netizens argued: "where to run? There is even no bicycle lane on Chinese roads." Some other netizens said: "Get better soon, bro, we miss you."
