‘Legends of Tomorrow:' A Watered-Down Justice League?

The "Legends of Tomorrow" trailer was just released by The CW, and it features a group of superpowered individuals who band together for the greater good. The film co-stars Flash and Green Arrow, and questions are being asked: Is this a second-tier Justice League?

Not entirely. Since Barry Allen and Oliver Queen have their own series to attend to, there is the slight possibility that they might drop in for a few episodes or three, depending on how long the series will go. The spinoff grabs stars from the previous two series, and Comic Book Resources listed them down: Victor Garber is back to play Professor Martin Stein, who is one half of Firestorm. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell from The Flash are also reprising their roles as Captain Cold and Heat Wave, respectively. The fan favorite Caity Lotz paid a visit to Lazarus Pits and is now renamed as White Canary, and Brandon Routh reveals his (spoiler alert!) shrink tech in the trailer as the Atom.

Though fans of the "The Flash" and "Arrow" are excited for fan favorites returning, fans of the DC comics are much more excited with two additional characters, namely, Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter.

This version of Hawkgirl is played by Ciara Renée, whom Nerdist reported will probably play the Kendra Saunders version seen in the comic serials Justic Society of America and Justice League of America. However, this Hawkgirl seems to be a hybrid of sorts, mixing both the alien and non-alien version.

Rip Hunter has always been a comic book favorite, and as Comicbook reiterated, he has had tons of recurrences throughout the DC universe, with two things in common: he is a Time Master, and his father is Booster Gold. He is played by British actor Arthur Darvill of "Doctor Who" fame, so this is not the first time that Rip Hunter has played with time.

Overall, the trailer was enough to excite fans the world over, and fall could not come soon enough.
