(Photo : Reuters) With the merger of US Airways into American Airlines entering its crucial final months, travelers might be wondering how much longer the flag-emblazoned tails of US Airways planes will be in the skies.
The iconic American brand will not be US Airways anymore starting this fall, as it will carry its new mother airline's name - American Airlines.
Fortune reported that the flights will fade out for US Airways banners in July and may take up about 90 days. According to Maya Leibman, the chief information officer for parent American Airlines Group, it is a very important process as it is the core system that faces most consumers.

When the day comes that staff changes the aircrafts signage at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the US Airways' home, aircrafts with US Airways colors will start flying again in 2016 and full incorporation of work groups may not be entirely completed until the said year.
Cntraveler reported that it will be the reservations system transition that leads to the signage change. Kerr and Leibman both characterized a "drip down" procedure, which means it will be a gradual transition for 90 days, in which US Airways flight codes will also be modified to American codes.
The airline will try to work on most of the airport signage change at Charlotte airport for a night, in doing so; most of the signage in the ticketing area will read US Airways and American Airlines the next day. American airlines also informed travel agents on Tuesday that as soon as July approaches, all US Airways flights will be changed to American flights in the schedule; however, US Airways flights may experience some delays.
The merge in the booking systems was a vast sticking point for Continental and United Airlines after the 2012 merger. The firms now form United Continental while US Airways has been flying their consumers for more than 75 years.
