Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Randy Orton squared off in a Fatal-Four-Way match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Payback.

The main event at WWE Payback Sunday, May 17 saw all the three former brethren and Randy Orton go toe-to-toe for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The self-proclaimed "Future of the WWE" Rollins would be defending his title against Orton and former teammates Ambrose and Reigns in a Fatal-Four-Way match.

While rumors doing rounds hinted Ambrose would turn heel and walk out of the PPV as The Authority's new world heavyweight champion, some fans speculated that The Viper will be the new face of the WWE. That being said, it was finally time to put all rumors and shots in the dark to rest as Orton walked out for this one first, then comes the Lunatic Fringe Ambrose, Reigns and then finally The Architect Rollins, according to reports on Fansided.

As expected, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble (J&J Security) interfered, but after that, the defending champion was in trouble as he found himself becoming a plaything for his former Shield mates, Ambrose and Reigns.

The Big Red Monster Kane could not be kept away from the action for too long as he saves Rollins from the beating that he was receiving at the hands of his former teammates, thus saving his job at the same time. Kane will be fired from The Authority if Rollins fails to defend his title, so this move from Kane was not at all unexpected, Wrestling Inc. noted.

Reigns and Rollins started the fight in the ring. In a smart move, Reigns goes for an early pin attempt, and then again with a big right hand for another pin attempt. Rollins fought back Reigns in the corner and drops his face in the corner. When Ambrose jumps off the top rope with a big elbow on Reigns, Orton successfully breaks the pin. Both Orton and Ambrose aims at it while Rollins is still out on the floor. Just when Orton and Reigns start fighting, Rollins sneaks in from behind and attacks Reigns.

The main event even saw what everyone was waiting for as The Shield reunited to give Orton a Triple power bomb, but the reunion was just for a moment as Reigns and Ambrose then turn their attentions to Rollins, the man that turned on them last year.

The match was overall a solid match, but ultimately Rollins was able to retain his title by using a Pedigree, a tribute to the The Authority and Triple H, perhaps.
