Taylor Swift Dominates Billboard Music Awards

Taylor Swift swept up a handful of awards at the Billboard Music Awards event that was broadcast live on ABC, Sunday.

The country-turned-pop superstar dominated the winners. She led the nominees with 14 nods winning Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist and the Top Billboard 200 Artist for her " 1989" album. The album's  lead single "Shake It Off," made it to the top Streaming Song in the Billboard Music Awards.

Moreover, the 25-year-old singer edged other nominees like One Direction, Ariana Grande, and her competition, Katy Perry. One Direction though earned their first awards show appearance since the departure of Zayn Malik in March. They got the awards for Top Duo/Group and Top Touring Artist.

During the triumphant Billboard Music Awards night, Taylor Swift was spotted grabbing her bandmate Niall Horan's crotch as the group headed up to the stage to pick up their Top Touring Artist prize.

Others who took home multiple awards in the Billboard Music Awards were Pharrel Williams, Iggy Azalea, and Sam Smith,  who just recovered from a throat surgery won the Top Male Artist award. He thanked his fans for their support via video link.

Williams, on the other hand won the Top R&B Artist award against likes of Chris Brown and Beyonce Knowles. His 2014 album  "G I R L" won the award for top R&B Album while and his hit song,"Happy" earned the Top R&B song during the Billboard Music Awards night.

Australian rapper Azalea earned the Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Song, and the Top Streaming Artist and her collaboration with Charli XCX, while John Legend's "All Of Me"  won  the Top Radio Song.  "All About That Bass" by Meghan Trainor's was named Top Digital Song and according to the US performance chart, the song won the Top Hot 100.

For the Billboard Music Awards' Best Rock Album, Coldplay won the award for "Ghost Stories," while Irish singer Hozier's "Take Me To Church" was chosen for the Best Rock Song.

As tribute to the late Ben E King, the rock band Imagine Dragons played "Stand By Me" while Ludacris also paid a touching tribute to legendary blues guitarist, B.B. King.

Rapper Kanye West closed the 2015 Billboard Music Awards by performing the song "All Day" from his new album "Swish."
